MONTPELIER – Bobby Jack Speece, 90, of Montpelier, passed away at 2:40 P.M. on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at Indiana University Health Blackford Hospital, Hartford City.

Jack was born on Friday, Jan. 18, 1924, in Wells County.

He married Phyllis Murphy on Friday, Oct. 27, 1950, in Jay County. She passed away on Friday, Sept. 2, 2005.

Jack attended Chester Center High School.

He previously worked at Crankshaw Chevrolet, Montpelier, and he retired after 40 years of employment from Overhead Door Corporation, Hartford City.

Jack enjoyed working and spending his weekends away from home with his wife. He also enjoyed roller skating.

He was known for being the "Jack of all trades" around town and will be missed by all.

Jack attended Old Country Church, Hartford City, and formerly attended First Church of the Nazarene, Montpelier.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen (husband, Larry) Tarr, of Montpelier, and Diana (friend, Terry) Davidson, of Montpelier; two sons, Mike (wife, Carol) Speece, of Montpelier, and Randy (wife, Michaelle) Speece, of Montpelier; one sister-in-law, Loretta (husband, Ralph) Thiery, of Lima, Ohio; one brother-in-law, Kenny (wife, Mary) Murphy, of Montpelier; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis (Murphy) Speece, mother, Grace (Crosby) Speece, father, Charles Speece, five brothers, Charlie Speece, Carrol Speece, Verle Speece, Fredick Speece and Roger Speece; two sisters, Opal Miller and Thelma Jackson.

A service to celebrate Jack's life will be at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier, at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, with Pastor Steve Garrett officiating. Interment will follow in Brookside Memorial Park Cemetery, Montpelier.
