HARTFORD CITY – Kenneth Everett Keller "Kenny", 97, loving husband, father and grandfather, died at 4:28 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2012 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Montpelier on April 5, 1915 to the late Arthur Keller and the late Enna Alta (Sills) Keller. His father died in 1918 and his mother died in 1920. He was raised by his aunt Addie Rexford Schmidt, who also precedes him in death.

Kenny graduated from Roll High School in 1933. He was a Sgt. in the United States Army, he served from April 10, 1944 through April 10, 1946 during World War II. He received the EAME Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal World War II.

He married Helen Ruth (Vandelene) Keller on September 4, 1936 in Carlton, Ky.

Kenny was a kind and gentle man and was loved by everyone. He was a good carpenter and handyman. He had built his own basement under his home. He retired from 3M Company in 1980 after 37 years of service. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Elks Lodge, American Legion Moyer-Pooler Post and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Helen Ruth Keller of Hartford City; son, Kenneth Rex (wife, Mary) Keller of San Antonio, Tx.; granddaughter, Kristina Keller of San Antonio, Tx.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his aunt who raised him and his granddaughter, Katherine A. Keller.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St. Hartford City with the Rev. John Parks of Grace United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Muncie.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St. Hartford City.

Memorials may be made to Biology Department Texas A&M University Katherine Keller Memorial Scholarship or Trinity United Methodist Church.
