GRANGER – Robert "Bob" F. Szrom, 80 of Granger, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 29, 2014.

He was born on January 8, 1934, in Hammond to John and Clara (Zasada) Szrom.
Bob married Phyllis T. (Bados) Szrom in Hammond on May 10, 1958. They recently celebrated their 56th anniversary.
He was a hard and determined worker.
Bob received a BS degree from Purdue University, West Lafayette, and an MS in industrial relations from Loyola University, Chicago, Ill. He later attended law school at Roosevelt University, Chicago, Ill.
He retired in 2002 after 25 years of employment at Skyline Corporation, Elkhart.
Bob was an avid golfer and euchre player.
He was a member of St. Pius X Parish, Granger.
He belonged to St. Joseph Valley Basketball Officials Association over 30 years.
Bob loved all college basketball with his favorite teams being Purdue and Notre Dame.
Licensed to officiate high school basketball games in both Michigan and Indiana, Bob donated his time to officiate the Special Olympics games.
He was an official score keeper for Notre Dame men's basketball games and officiated games for Notre Dame, Indiana University South Bend and Bethel College.
Survivors include his loving wife, Phyllis; one son, Paul R. (Susan) Szrom; one daughter, Janet S. (Todd) Auel. He was a wonderful grandfather to Andrew Szrom, Laura Szrom, Mikey Szrom, Stephen Auel and Joey Auel, all of Granger.
He was preceded in death by his eldest child, Stephen J. Szrom, who passed away in 1984, and his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 7, 2014, at 11 a.m. with visitation from 10 to 10:50 a.m. at St. Puis X Catholic Church, 52552 Fir Rd., Granger.
Bob will be laid to rest next to his son at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park Cemetery, Granger, on Monday, July 7, 2014.
