Mary Kathryn Mann

Mary Kathryn (Harting) Mann, 86, was born on July 27, 1931, in the town of Elwood, Indiana. She was the third child of Kenneth Harting and Lehla McGraw Harting, the younger sister to two older brothers, Kenny and Howard. She passed away on Sunday, April 8th, 2018.

Mary Kay learned to love God at an early age. She was an excellent student and a dutiful daughter. She went to Bible college and used to say that her one desire for a career was to be a pastor's wife. She always said that she just loved that.

Mary Kay got reacquainted with Rev. Thurl Mann in the Fall of 1977 after the passing of Rev. Mann's first wife. They were married March 19, 1978 and enjoyed almost 35 years in marriage before Rev. Mann went to be with the Lord. They pastored three Nazarene churches in Florida: Bayshore, Bradenton First, and Gainesville. They also traveled 14 years on the road in evangelism, and recorded three gospel albums. Mary Kay was an accomplished vocalist and musician, playing the piano and vibraphone.

Mary Kay was preceded in death by her parents – Kenneth & Lehla Harting, two brothers, Kenny & Howard, husband, Rev. L. Thurl Mann, and son, Larry Mann.

She is succeeded by her children – Stanley Mock of Florida, Gary Mann of Colorado, and Alynne Douglass of California, four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

A service to celebrate Mary Kay's life will be at Montpelier Church of the Nazarene, 440 N. Standard Oil Blvd. on Friday, May 4th, at 10:30 am followed by a lunch reception. She will be buried in the Brookside Cemetery in Montpelier.
