HARTFORD CITY – Roger Lewis Elliott, 75, died at 5:20 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at his residence.

He was born in Hartford City on March 9, 1936, to the late Charles W. Elliott and the late Lois Irene (Davis) Elliott.
Roger graduated from Jefferson Township High School in Upland in 1954. He married Myra L. (Shawhan) Elliott on April 4, 1958, in Hartford City at Trinity United Methodist Church.
He worked for Bowman Construction as a carpenter for 56 years. He was a member of Blackford Masonic Lodge #106 F&A.M. He grew up attending Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Hartford City, and now attended Calvary Christian the Lighthouse Church, Hartford City.
Roger was an avid fisherman, enjoyed golf, liked to watch NASCAR and was a Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan. He also was an avid coon hunter until he lost his favorite dog, Newt.
His grandchildren loved their Pa Paw Roger. He and his wife, Myra wintered in Hawthorne, Fla., where he became an avid Gator fan.
Roger will be sadly missed by his wife, Myra L. Elliott, of Hartford City; daughter, Cheri L. (husband, Pastor Randall "Randy" J.) Rinker, of Hartford City; son, Mark A. (wife, Diane I.) Elliott, of Marion; granddaughters, Lyndsey (husband, Brad) Jarvis Ashley (husband, Jeremy) Walls, Shelby Rinker and Jamie (husband, Andrew) Hickman; great-grandchildren, Ashton Wamsley and Cohen Walls; 2 step great-grandchildren, Avery Jarvis and Nolan Jarvis; sister, Janice (husband, Rex) Hiday, of Cynthiana, Ky.; brothers, Nolan S. (wife, Donna) Elliott, of Hartford City, and David L. (wife, Marilu) Elliott, of Indianapolis; sister-in-law, Betty L. Parker, of Hartford City; special friend, Linda Francis, of Hartford City; several nieces and nephews.
Roger will be cremated. There will be no visitation or service at this time. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at a later date.
