BLEVINS, Helen L (Drake)

Helen L (Drake) Blevins, former resident of Windsor and Windsor Locks, passed away on July 10, 2013, in Debary, FL after a long illness. She was born on May 23, 1924 to the late Eugene and Edna Drake of Windsor, CT. Helen worked most of her life, first with her mother and sister at The Palisado Greenhouse, then in the restaurant business for over 30 years, ending her career at Aetna Insurance. She was a frequent attendee at the Windsor Locks Senior Center prior to her move to Florida several years ago. Helen leaves behind her children, Sue Turkington, Sally Blevins of Debary, FL, and Melissa Young and her husband, Ralph Young of Northfield, MN and her grandchildren, Scott Turkington, Kelly Maurice and her husband Robert Maurice, Melissa Blevins, Erica Blevins, Zachary Young and Julia Young. She also leaves three great-grandchildren, Alexis, Elizabeth and Hope Maurice as well as her daughter-in-law, Colleen Blevins of Anthem, AZ and several nieces and a nephew. She was predeceased by her son, Richard Blevins and her sister, Jean Drake Loomer.
At Helen's request, there will be no services and arrangements are being finalized in Debary, FL. You may send your condolences to S. Turkington, 29 Merrigan Lane, Windsor Locks. A memorial contribution can be made in Helen's name to a charity of your choice.
