Harold' family
I went to visit Harold last night at the Clark facility in Glastonbury and was very saddened to learn of his death. After numerous calls to him that went unanswered, I had that sinking feeling that Harold might be gone. I wanted to set up a meeting with him to finish our viewing and discussion of the CD called "The Pacific." My dad and he served in the Marines on Okinawa in WWII. I met him at a Little League game next to his facility in Glastonbury. There was instant friendship and respect established between two vets, one withered but still smiling Marine and one younger "whipper snapper out of the Army. It didn't hurt our friendship by the fact that we both had history with Hartford Public High School and the city of Hartford; he as a police officer and me as a teacher and coach.
I truly enjoyed my time with Harold. He was a genuine gentleman and one's whose company I enjoyed.
So Harold, rest in peace good man. May God rest your soul and your family be consoled by the fact that you will be remembered by all of us who have served. You were a hero!

I served on the Hartford Police Dept. with Harold. Harold was mild mannered young officer. Well liked and highly regarded. I would speak to him on a daily bases and found his advise most helpful. I extend my thoughts and prayers to the Beard family. An also add that it was an honor to know Harold.

Dear Susan and the extended Beard family.: I was privileged to know Harold and to work with him on the H.P.D. He was a true gentleman who treated everyone he met with respect and courtesy. At the same time, he was a very effective police officer who could be depended upon to carry out his day to day assignments with a smile on his face. May he rest in peace and may fond memories soften your loss.
