My deepest sympathy and condolences to the Martin family for your loss.
Ray was a loyal customer of my dad's when my dad had his auto dealership and I have many memories of the charisma Ray brought with him during the many years I worked there. It seemed like he always had something interesting to say.

Oh, the memories I have of Lt. Martin. I started at Connecticut Mutual in 1974 and was always trying to get away with parking in the closest parking lot to the door (not my assigned place). So many times, I tried to sneak by him but to no avail. As he would be escorting me back to my car I would be begging and pleading as he would graciously close my car door and watch me drive over to the garage. He would always win. It became a joke and yes, I did get him to smile. Eventually we became friends and I came to know that there was a big ol’ teddy bear underneath his very strict façade. As long as I followed the rules – to a “T” there would be no problem with Lt. Martin. At one of the annual CML gatherings he and I sat and reminisced and we had a lot of laughs. He always remembered my name as he could always relate it to his own daughter’s name. Reading his obituary made me realize how great of a man he was and gave me even a greater respect for him. He was a great man and will be deeply missed. I’m sure he is a guardian angel looking down to watch over his family. We can rest assured that St. Peter will always be parking in his assigned place. May god bless you and may these fond memories give you strength during your time of sorrow.

To Our Dear Neighbors & Adopted Family: There are no words that could ever be written to express our deepest of sympathies for your family's great loss. Ray was a remarkable man, neighbor, friend and so much more. We were blessed to know him and to allow him to color our world with his love, humor, and genuineness. He was truly a gift to all of us. Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people become friends and stay a while...leaving beautiful footprints on our hearts and we are never quite the same because we have made a good friend!! May God’s peace be with all of you…

Friends for 58 years, starting with service in the 278th.REGT. Combat Team (1953). Then twelve years in business (1956-1968). Ray and I enjoyed all of these years together. Two weeks ago, Ray told me that he was constantly challenged by his heart problems, and was prepared to go. He said he would be waiting for me while seated on a cloud and I should not make him wait too long. We will all be with Ray someday; for now we must keep his memory alive in our hearts.
Thinking of Ray always. Sam Sisisky

To Aunt Lil, Chris, Janice and Cathy, please accept Al's and my deepest sympathies at uncle Ray's passing. I have so many good memories of him at family gatherings and visits that Al and I had with him and Aunt Lil over the past several years. I can still hear the sound of his voice and his classic ways of expressing himself that truly define him as "Uncle Ray". I miss him now and will never forget him! Uncle Ray, we love you!

Where do I begin...Lt. Martin was someone who, no matter what, you encountered at Connecticut Mutual each and every day. Whether it was a simple "good morning" or "you know you're not supposed to be parked there so move it!". Sometimes he didn't need to say anything at all...he just had to look at you and you knew you were caught! It was a trick to get him to smile, but we all worked at it and it was like a game that everyone wanted in on. After so many years working together, he and I had become good friends. He was a good man, did his job well and was respected by pretty much everyone. He will be missed by many, but his legacy at CML will live on. Reading his obituary, I had no idea of his involvement of so many things, and that gave me an even greater respect for him. Since my move to Florida, I always ask of those attending the annual "CML Gathering" if he was in attendance. He was one of many people from Connecticut Mutual that I really cared about. May God give your family strength, and may fond memories help ease your pain at this difficult time. With Sincere Sympathy, Debbie Adachowski
