My condolences to Ruth's family and friends.
I worked for Ruth at the Hartford VNA and never met a more supportive manager and most importantly a mentor. Ruth encouraged me to pursue new employment oppotunities- which brought my career path to the State of CT Health Dept.-and she mentored my introduction to doctoral education in Public Health at Yale. I will always be indebted to her. She was a truly gracious hostess! I especially loved the chats by the fireplace at her home in West Hartford. She was an exemplary leader, colleague and most importantly a friend. I will miss her.

We at VNA HealthCare are deeply saddened. Ruth Abbott was a tireless, dedicated and innovative leader of this organization for more than 20 years. Under her tenure the agency grew and prospered and added new programs. Personally, she was an inspiration and role model to me as I steward the legacy she left behind. Her high standards and passion for home healthcare have set the bar and we are a better organization because of her. Our sincere condolences. We will always remember her and pay tribute to her at VNA HealthCare.
With sincere sympathy,
