I have a baseball that was signed by Walter ... he gave it to my Dad, who met him at a restaurant in Andover, Mass called Fieldstone’s. My dad worked there then (1965 ?) so I am sure Walter had come in to eat.
Dad spoke well of him ...
I wasn’t sure if anyone the family would be interested in the ball as a token of my appreciation and admiration of Walter.

i was in elementary school when your dad played for the white Sox. He rented a place from my parents in indian rocks beach. I was a tomboy. He spent time with me almost every day teaching me how to pitch and catch. Even though I was very young I knew what a good man he was. There's a life magazine article picturing him other players and me growing a huge cast net into the water. I think it was 1952 or 53. From the obit I can see what a wonderful father he must have been. I have no idea why his name came into my memory but I am glad to share my special memories of him with you. mary

To the Dropo Family and Friends,
My condolences to the loss of such a talented and likeable person like Mr.Dropo. In this difficult time please find a measure of peace from the many wonderful memories he must have made through the years.
What brought me comfort when my dear brother passed away, is found at Isaiah 26:19-"Your loved ones will live again...they will be raised up".
This is harmony with Psalms 37:29-"The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it."

In the early sixties my dad took me to Cleveland Stadium to see the Indians play the Orioles. We couldn't afford good seats and we sat in the upper deck way out in right field. At any rate, in the latter innings I moved down and sat right next to first base. At the time, Walt was playing first . An Indian popped up a ball that was coming down to my outstreached hands and Walt caught it right over my head. I'll never forget that day. I wanted that ball so bad, but Walt had to get the out. Rest in peace Walt. You left me with a fine memory of you.
