Georgette Bilodeau Reynolds, 90, of Farmington, widow of Robert T. Reynolds, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 12th at her home. Born in Laurierville, Quebec, Canada, May 16, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Amadelice J. and Marie (Gosselin) Bilodeau. Prior to retiring, she was employed by Travelers Insurance Company and later with the Sears Credit Department. Georgette was a longtime communicant at the Church of St. Patrick in Farmington where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Galanto and fiancé Alan Adler of East Hampton, her sister, Doris Abraham and her husband Thomas of Panama City, FL, two brothers, Bernard J. Bilodeau and his wife Charlotte of Orlando, FL and Donald Bilodeau and his wife Anita of Farmington, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and her daughter-in-law, Joanne Reynolds of Bristol. She was predeceased by her son, Jeffrey Reynolds, her daughter, Joanie Reynolds, two brothers, Raymond and Roger Bilodeau and her sister, Lucille Parker. She married the love of her life, Robert, in 1948, and first settled in Unionville. Having lived through the '55 flood, you knew whenever there was a hard rain, the story always followed, "Well, you know, in the '55 flood...." In 1958, she and her husband built their house in Farmington where she was never too "girly" to attempt any home maintenance project on her own. She lived there until 2011. Never one to like much "commotion", she found pleasure in the simple things in life; her family, feeding and watching wildlife, fresh clothes off the line, gardening, dancing to Eddy Arnold and Herb Alpert, and watching UCONN girl's basketball and Red Sox games on TV. One of her fondest memories was the 6-week cross country trip with her husband in 1988. She never met a shrimp dish she didn't like, and couldn't wait to eat green beans she picked fresh from the garden. She was an impressive accordion player and bowler, had a phenomenal green thumb, made a spectacular vegetable soup, and had an uncanny ability to make a box of Munson's chocolates last in the cabinet for over a month. We will miss her smile, her laugh, her kind heart, and her soup. The family wishes to thank Faith Anderson, her caregiver for the last 10 months of her life. We will be forever grateful for her love and care. Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Thursday (Jan. 16) from 5:00-7:00pm. Funeral procession from The Ahern Funeral Home will be Friday (Jan. 17) at 9:15am followed by the Funeral Liturgy in the Church of St. Patrick, 110 Main St., Farmington at 10:00am. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Farmington. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to contribute to a local food bank or perform an act of kindness to someone in need. Grandma...one of my fondest and funniest memories was when I stayed with you while mom and dad went to Pocono and at night you and I would get our nightgowns on and one night Grandpa looked up at us and said "well I guess I had better go and get my nightgown on too!" And we laughed! Too many wonderful memories to list! May you rest in peace always and forever. I love you always and will miss you! And will tell my children all about you and keep your memory alive!
