Charlotte GAGNE Obituary

GAGNE, Charlotte Antoinette (Nardozzi)

Charlotte Antoinette Gagne (Nardozzi) 69, of Rocky Hill & Merritt Island, FL died on Tuesday, (March 5, 2013) in Jacksonville, FL. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, John Peter Gagne. She is also survived by two daughters, Sharon Marie Gagne of Rocky Hill and Karen Gagne-Signorello of Cromwell. Her three grandchildren meant the world to her: Brianna Florence, Malena Lucia, and AJ Signorello of Cromwell. She loved helping them with school work, going camping, travelling, or just watching TV with them. She was predeceased by her parents Angelo "Charlie" and Florence (Spino) Nardozzi of Waterbury. She is survived by many cousins and friends. She went to Mary Abbot School and Crosby High School in Waterbury. She graduated from UCONN in 1965 with a BA in History and a Masters in teaching from Southern Connecticut State University. Charlotte was a teacher for 41 years. She began teaching in Prospect and at Charles Wright in Wethersfield. The majority of her teaching career was at Moser School in Rocky Hill, "The little school with the Big Heart". She had a great passion working with children and loved to help children learn. She would always come up with unique activities and lessons to excite them. She was a great experiential educator and touched so many lives. Charlotte was an avid UCONN women's basketball fan and a season's ticket holder. She loved doing crossword puzzles, needlepoint and trivia games. Charlotte loved her 5th wheel RV trailer. Charlotte and John are members of the CT Good Sam Roadrunners camping club. She enjoyed camping all around the US and visiting National Parks. She especially enjoyed going to Hammonasset State Park. She loved to sit with family and friends around the campfire, sharing stories, roasting s'mores and having a glass of wine. One of her greatest joys in life was traveling with her husband, going on bus trips and cruises. They have traveled all over Europe, Hawaii, Alaska, Panama Canal and the Caribbean. She had a passion for going on Disney Cruises where she made many friends. Charlotte loved heading south for the winter. While in Florida, she would enjoy going on trips to Disney with friends and family. Her favorite Disney character is Goofy. She had her Disney pass porter book and her hidden Mickey books with her to always be looking for Disney clues. Playing bingo and dinner dances were one of her favorite events at Island Lakes Community. At 5 p.m. you could always find Charlotte and John at Jetty Park watching the cruise ships come in and out of the port. She was also a member of the Moose Club in Merritt Island. She was a long time parishioner of St James Church in Rocky Hill. She enjoyed helping with church tag sales, and many other events. She had a strong devotion to St Anthony. She will be missed by all that knew her.
Because of Charlotte's love of children and helping them, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St James Youth Group, 767 Elm St., Rocky Hill, CT 06067, so she can continue to help the young people of our church. Funeral services will be Saturday 9 a.m. from the Giuliano-Sagarino Funeral Home at BROOKLAWN , 511 Brook St., Rocky Hill followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. James Church. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum in St Mary's Cemetery, New Britain. Friends are invited to the funeral home, Friday from 5-8 p.m. For online words of sympathy directions or floral tributes. Shocked to hear of this wonderful woman passing. Charlotte was a frequent patient at Suburban PT & we will miss her gracious smile, laughter & stories. I have fond memories where she taught my niece years ago at Moser school. The world will miss her presence, but heaven gains a special angel.

My Thoughts & Prayers are with the family at this very sad time. Charlotte was my Best Friend from Kindergarden at Mary Abbott School through Crosby High School in Waterbury. I fondly remember Charlotte's mother, father, aunts and uncles, too. We last saw each other at our 50th High School Reunion in Waterbury October 2011. I'm in the photo between Charlotte and Jackie Marshak taken at our 50th. What a terrible shock, a great loss! Charlotte will remain my BFF in my heart...FOREVER. Sincerely, Elizabeth (Donner) Libner

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. All of us have great memories from Corpus Christi School and at St. James. You will all have an angel watching over you from up above. Watch for those little signs that she is helping with those beautiful grandchildren that she adored. We talked a few times about how much our lives were enriched with our grandchildren. We are in Florida, so will be unable to see you this weekend, but know that you will be in our thoughts and prayers.
