Abrahams, Earlene - Bloomfield  
In loving memory of Earlene "The Cake Lady" Abrahams of Windsor, CT, 73, was born on May 4, 1942 in Tuskegee, AL, to the late Ethel and Early Greathouse. The Lord called her home on April 23, 2016. She was a member of Phillips Metropolitan C.M.E Church of Hartford, where she served on the Missionary Board. She loved the Lord, had a great sense of humor, and wonderful smile. She had a loving and giving heart, she made sure everyone around her was taken care of whether they were family or not. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, Ruth Chapter No. 25. Earlene worked at Hartford Hospital for thirty plus years as a head baker. She provided catering services, cakes, and other baked goods to the greater Hartford area for numerous years. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling, collecting elephants, and spending time with her Grandkids and Great-grandkids. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Leonard Abrahams and three daughters Brenda Randle of Bloomfield, CT, Barbara (Douglas) Wilson of Windsor, CT, and Tanya Randle-(Charles) Martin of Hartford, CT. She is also survived by a sister Linda Greathouse-(Mickey)Williams of Hartford, CT, Paul Greathouse of Detroit, MI, and Walter Greathouse of Tampa Bay, FL. She is survived by nineteen grandkids, and eleven great-grandkids. She also leaves to mourn a host of friends and family including Mary Carter, Signester Armstong, Michael Richards, Kristol Pitts-Dawson, Awilda Texidor, Lois Ross, and Cynthia Mack. Earlene is predeceased by a son Anthony Randle (Valerie Mikell), a son-in-law Michael Spence, brothers Charles Greathouse, Robert Greathouse, and Leon Johnson, a sister Esther Alleyne, a grandson Quandel Spence, and a granddaughter Bryanna Pennycooke. Services will be held on Saturday May 7, 2016 at 8am-11:30am at Phillips Metropolitan C.M.E Church 2500 Main St Hartford, CT. She will be laid to rest at Mount Saint Benedict cemetery in Bloomfield, CT. Burial services are performed by All Faith Memorial Chapel. Arrangements may be sent in care of the funeral home.

Manuel R Almada, 96 of East Hartford, CT. Beloved husband of late Rose (Frias) Almada, passed on April 26, 2016. Born and raised in Bristol RI and Sao Miguel, Azores son of Francisco and Maria (Cabral Alberta) Almada. Manny was a WWII Veteran and retired from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. He is survived by his Brother Alfred Almada, Son Richard Almada, Daughters: Pamela Almada, Joan Almada Hudak, Marilyn Almada, Brenda Civiello. Alston, Annette - East Hartford  
Annette "Boo" Alston, 46 of East Hartford, Ct. gained her wings on April 30, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital after an admirable and courageous battle with cancer. Annette was born on March 16, 1970 in North Carolina to mother Alberta Dark and father Clyde Alston. She spent the majority of her life in Hartford County, graduating from Hartford High School in 1990. Boo was known for her infectious smile, tranquil demeanor, her selfness and her amazing ability to bring peace to those in turmoil. Although Boo is no longer here physically, her memory will continue to live on through her loved ones. Boo is survived by her mother Alberta Dark of East Hartford, Ct., siblings brother Iven Dark of Moncure, NC., sisters Sylvia Campbell and her Husband Evered Campbell of East Hartford, Ct., Evelyn Dark of East Hartford, Ct., Pamela Dark and Angela Dark of Manchester, Ct. She also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and an abundance of caring and loving freinds. She is predeceased by her father Clyde Alston and grandmother Annie Alston, both of North Carolina. Her life and death will be mourned by many, but fear not, for an angel has gained her wings. This is not goodbye this is see your later. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 14th, 2016 at Mount Carmel Church located at 90 Tolland Street East Hartford, Ct. 06108 at 11:00am to 12noon.

Michael W. Anacki, 69, of Suffield and formerly of West Suffield, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Hartford Hospital. Born March 3, 1947 in Springfield, MA son of the late Walter and Frances (Smiegel) Anacki. Anderson, Dennis C. - Bristol  
Dennis C. Anderson, 68 of Bristol passed away peacefully at home Thursday evening April 28, 2016 with his beloved wife, Karen by his side. Dennis was born in Manchester, CT on September 30, 1947 son of the late Russell Anderson and Julia Mae (Shaw) Anderson. Dennis was a proud U.S. Marine veteran serving two tours beginning in 1965 during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant in 1970. He was attached to the 1st BN 7th Marines who were known as "Suicide Charlie". For over 40 years, Dennis was an Orthopedic Assistant and had worked for Dr. Timothy McLaughlin and Dr. Brian Comstock. Dennis was an avid Civil War re-enactor with the 27th CT Volunteers and was also a voracious military history buff and collector of World War I artifacts. He and his wife loved to travel and collected antiques all over the U.S. and Canada. Dennis was also a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, New York Giants and Boston Bruins. Besides his wife, Karen (Kumkowski) Anderson, Dennis leaves his father-in-law and mother-in-law Joseph and Mary Ann Kumkowski; cousins, Robert "Bucky" Jones and his wife Cookie, Wendy and Bob Snider, Tom and Barbara Martello, Marty and Pat Martello and Jim and Gail Martello; Sisters-in-law Pam Tanguay and her husband Paul, Mary Ann Tanguay and her husband Russell; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews. Dennis' funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Forestville/Bristol. Committal services and interment with full military honors will follow in the State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown. All are invited to calling hours on Monday between 5:00 and 7:00 pm. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Jared P. Anderson, 37, of Wallingford, died suddenly on Monday, May 2, 2016. Through his happiest times, as well as through his struggles, he was surrounded and supported by people who loved him: his beloved wife, Julie Anderson; step children, Emily and Ethan Bau; parents, Peter and Margaret Anderson (Marion); grandmother, Betty Anderson (Southington); aunts and uncles: Marceille and Bob Crookes, Stan and Deb Malinowski, Bill and Eileen Chmura, Elaine Anderson, and David and Rose Anderson; cousins: Ben, Nate, Jason, and Sara; in-laws, Betty and Bill Long (Durham), and Kaori and Bill Long, Jr. (Japan); along with many friends of Bill W. and his little buddy, Henry. Jared was predeceased by grandparents, Len Anderson, and Stan and Mary Malinowski; aunt, "Cook" Chmura; and cousin, Elizabeth. Jared was raised in Marion and graduated from Southington High School. He will be remembered for his extraordinary wit and unique sense of humor that drew people to him. He was able to expound with convincing authority on virtually any topic and his family awarded him an honorary "BS" degree. Jared was passionate about his work as a Production Manager at Pyramid Time Systems in Meriden. Aside from his family and work, his avid interests included hiking, mountaineering, cycling, and guitar. Jared's artistry in the kitchen was not to be outdone and was greatly enjoyed by others. In Jared's memory, we ask that you trust God and help others. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016, at 10:00 am, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 145 Main St, Southington. Apgar, Richard - Deep River  
Richard Apgar, 73, of Deep River, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2016, after a brief illness surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born in Middletown, son of the late Henry & Ruby (Caine) Apgar, lifelong residents of Deep River before retiring to Hobe Sound, FL. He is survived by his daughter Denise A. Doolittle and her husband Dwight of Deep River, his son James R. Apgar and his partner Alexandra Hatch of East Haddam, his grandchildren Mollie C. & Kaitlin E. Apgar, both of East Haddam, and his lifelong partner and best friend Teresa A. LaMark of Deep River. Richard was blessed to have a large extended family and many close friends. The Apgar family would like to thank the staff at Hospital for Special Care in New Britain for their compassion and extraordinary care they provided during Richard's illness. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 3rd from 5-7 pm at Robinson, Wright & Meymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St, Centerbrook. Ash, Barbara Lillis - Cheshire  
CHESHIRE - Barbara Lillis Ash passed peacefully on Saturday April 16, 2016 at Elim Park Place. Born May 16, 1930 in Chester Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Lucy and Warren Nye and wife of the late Albert W. Ash Jr. Barbara had two older twin sisters Marcia and Susan, and they enjoyed spending their summers at their grandparents' summer home on Deer Isle, ME, creating many fond memories. She attended Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio and graduated with a degree in Biology. After college she accepted a position with the Institute of Living in Hartford, CT, where she met her loving husband of 60 years Albert W. Ash Jr. They were married February 19, 1955, in Hartford, CT. Barbara is survived by four children: Albert Warren (1956), Philip Dana (1958), Stephen Gregory (1959), and Catherine Louise (Charette) (1961). She is also survived by six grandchildren. Barbara took great pride in being a stay at home wife and mother, raising her children and delighting everyone with her wonderful cooking and baking expertise. She passed on numerous generational family favorite recipes that will be forever remembered and made time and time again. Barbara enjoyed many hobbies over the years including maintaining her flower beds, collecting buttons, and volunteering at her church, Christ Church Cathedral in Hartford, CT. She also was an avid bell collector and member of the American Bell Association, New England Chapter, with a collection of hundreds of bells from all over the world. In retirement, Albert and Barbara spent many years hiking Connecticut trails and visiting State Parks. In 2010, they moved from Bloomfield, CT, to Elim Park in Cheshire, CT. A memorial service will be held a Nelson Hall, Elim Park on May 7, 2016 at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, PO Box 96011, Washington DC 20090-6011.
