LORENZETTI, Alfred A.

Alfred A. Lorenzetti, 89, of Bristol, devoted husband of Jennie (Cattaneo) Lorenzetti, died Thursday, (August 22, 2013) at Bristol Hospital. Alfred was born June 20, 1924 in Lawrence, MA and was a son of the late Antonio and Giroloma (Palmeri) Lorenzetti. He was a United States Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Mr. Lorenzetti attended Texas A & M and Bryant College, and graduated from Springfield College with a B.S. in Physical Education. He received his Master's Degree from CCSU and his 6 th year from the University of Hartford. Alfred was a former teacher at Stafford School in Bristol, former principal of Sandy Hook Elementary School and Assistant to the Superintendent in Newtown. Alfred later was principal of South Side School in Bristol. After retiring he worked at MacMillan Publishing Company and Briarwood College. Alfred was an avid Yankee fan, played baseball for Bristol Central High and he coached American Legion baseball. A member of the Bristol Tramps, he was the recipient of the 2011 Tramps Award. Mr. Lorenzetti was a dedicated teacher, mentor, and principal. Education was extremely important to him. He touched the lives of many children, family, teachers, and educators. His family meant everything to him, and he is deeply loved by all of them. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Anthony and Christine Lorenzetti of Bristol; two daughters and sons-in-law: Jean and James Andrews of Southington and Julie and Howard Dyson of New Britain; a brother and sister-in-law: Raymond and Theresa Lorenzetti of Bristol; a sister: Ida Fiondella of Vero Beach, FL; eight grandchildren: Jason Andrews and his wife Melissa, Jordan Andrews and his wife Gina, Andrew, Tracy and Jennie Dyson, and Ashley, Abbey, and Anthony J. Lorenzetti; and four great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, August 26, 2013, 10 a.m., at St. Gregory Church, Bristol. Entombment with military honors will follow in Holy Family Mausoleum at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday between 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the South Side School Alfred A.
