Baldino Schiavone, 84, of South Windsor, beloved husband of 56 years to Elvira (Zullo) Schiavone, passed away peacefully on Monday, (March 4, 2013). The son of Stephen and Imacolata (Sarzillo) Schiavone, Baldino was born and raised in Casal DiPrincipe, Italy, before moving to Hartford with Elvira 57 years ago. He enjoyed a 39-year career at Birken Mfg. Co. in Bloomfield, rising to the position of Plant Manager. In his spare time, Baldino enjoyed family events, travel, and many friendships, including many friends from Italy. Family was very important to him. He was a member of the Cattinesi Club. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children and their spouses, Steven and Lucia in Simsbury, Patricia and Jack in South Windsor, and Michael in Rocky Hill; three grandchildren, Brianna, Jennifer and Sara; three siblings in Italy, Silvio, Lia and Ottavia, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. Baldino was predeceased by three brothers, Reverend Valenti, Gildo, and Cesare, and a sister, Esterina Schiavone. His family would like to thank his caregivers for the kind and compassionate comfort that they provided for Dad in the last three months of his life.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 8, at 10 a.m. at Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 673 Ellington Road, South Windsor. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The of CT Inc., 2139 Silas Deane Hwy, Suite 208, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
