GORMAN, Carlton Henry
Carlton Henry Gorman, age 85 of Brooklyn, died Monday, (April 15, 2013) at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. He was the husband of the love of his life Jeannette (Leger) Gorman; they were married Oct. 1, 1949. Carlton was born in Attleboro, MA on May 13, 1927, son of the late Frank E. Gorman Sr. and Anna (Pilblad) Gorman. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II aboard troop transports in the South Pacific and Japan from 1945-1946. He worked for Pratt & Whitney for 32 years as a manufacturing engineer as a process planner retiring in 1983. While at Pratt & Whitney he played on several golf league teams. He was a member of SENESGA, where he served as president for two years. He was an avid golfer and became the "golf doctor", building and repairing golf clubs. He was a member of the VFW. Mr. Gorman was very involved in helping to raise his grandchildren. He knew no strangers. Besides his wife he is survived by his children, Jeannie Duris (#1 daughter) of VA, Carlton H. Gorman Jr. and wife Linda of St. Augustine, FL, Heidi Gorman (#2 daughter) and husband Frank Zak Jr. of Moosup, Becky Gorman (#3 daughter) of Pomfret, CT; grandchildren, Daniel Paine, Jennifer Paine, and Taylor Phillips; great-grandchildren, Shyonne Challinor, Jason Challinor, Oliver Paine, Myleah Challinor and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Frank Gorman Jr. and Thomas Gorman; and sister, Julia Askham.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, Route 6, Brooklyn with Military Honors. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to The Mortlake Fire Department, P.O. Box 301, Brooklyn, CT 06234.
