David J. Lynch Sr.

David J. Lynch., 82, of Bristol, passed away on December 26, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Judith Searle Lynch for 57 years. He was the son of the late Cornelius J. Lynch, notable fastball pitcher of the 40's and 50's, and the late Hannah Healy Lynch. Born in New Britain, he attended local schools, moving to Bristol in 1966. He was retired from CL&P in 1991 as an Area Electrical Supervisor after 37 years of service. He served 4 years in the US Navy aboard the USS Princeton during the Korean Conflict, doing three tours of duty in Korean waters. He was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman. He belonged to the Bristol Fish and Game, the National Rifle Association, the American Legion Post 165 Wolcott, New Britain Quartette Club and YMCA, AARP, and ARENU (Association of Retired Employees of Northeast Utilities). Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, David J. Lynch, Jr., of Bristol, and Michael Lynch of Cromwell. He is also survived by his brother Cornelius Lynch and his wife Sharon of Farmington, his two sisters Kathleen Conlin and Helen Tanguay, both of New Britain, his sister-in-law Christine Connelly of Westerly, RI, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law Patricia Paul and her husband Edward and his brother-in-law John L. Conlin, Jr. Funeral services for Mr. Lynch will be celebrated on Monday at 9:00a.m. from the Bailey Funeral Home 48 Broad Street in Plainville to Saint Gregory the Great Church 235 Maltby Street in Bristol for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Committal services followed by military honors will be held in Saint Mary Cemetery in New Britain.
