HARRIS, Dennis Jules

Dennis Jules Harris, 64, of Windsor, beloved husband of 18 years of Debra Catherine (Carter) Harris passed away on Monday, (February 18, 2013) at Hartford Hospital. Born in Pointe Coupe, LA on September 30, 1948, son of Albertine Mary Etienne of Hartford and the late Jim Harris, Jr., he was raised in Baton Rouge, LA and had lived in Connecticut since 1966. Dennis enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1969 and served during the Vietnam era until his honorable discharge as Sergeant in 1973. After returning from the service, Dennis took a position at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and had worked as a Material System Handler for the last 38 years. He had lived in Hartford and Manchester before moving to Windsor in 1991. In his spare time, he enjoyed exercising and golfing in a league he had joined through his work. Most of all, he liked relaxing at home, spending time with his wife and family, and traveling to visit family. He was a devout Catholic and active parishioner of St. Gertrude Church in Windsor. Besides his wife, he leaves a step daughter, LaSondra Carter of Alexandria, VA; his grandson Markel Manson, who will deeply miss his Granddaddy Dennis; three brothers, Leo Francois of Greensboro, NC, Raleigh Francois of Hartford, and Milton Harris and his wife Ann of Baton Rouge, LA; four sisters, Diane Parker of Hartford, Rita Martin of Hartford, Jocelyn Harrigan of New London, and Marilyn Farmer of New Haven; his uncle, George Etienne of New Orleans. He was predeceased by a nephew, Darrien Paul Martin.
His family will receive friends on Monday, February 25, 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m., at St. Gertrude Church, 550 Matianuck Ave., Windsor.
