Dorothy Marie (Sheld) Albrecht, 87, passed away peacefully at Middlesex Hospital, on October 22. She was the beloved wife of Walter G. Albrecht for 63 years. Dorothy was born in Manhattan, NY, on March 3, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Louis and Anna (Kasper) Sheld. Dorothy received her BS at Queens College in New York and her MA at Columbia University. She taught Math at Flushing High School. Walter and Dorothy moved to Killingworth in 1949. They later worked side by side to grow their family business, V-G Flask & Fitting Co. She loved her community and was an active member until her struggle with Alzheimer's began. She was on the Killingworth Board of Education, PTA, Ambulance Association, Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary, Democratic Town Committee, a Registrar of Voters for 25 years and a member of the Congregational Church of Killingworth. Dorothy will be deeply missed by her family and by everyone whom her life touched. Beside her husband, she is survived by her son Richard Albrecht, daughters Joanne Moore and Linda A. Gates, all of Killingworth and her grandchildren Victoria Williams of New London, Matthew Albrecht of Buxton, ME, Jessica Wellington of Bristol, Michael Albrecht of Southbridge, MA, Anthony Albrecht of Middletown; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Rita Thomas of California and her son Lawrence Albrecht of Middletown. Calling hours will be at Swan Funeral Home, 80 East Main St., Clinton on Thursday, Oct. 28, 6 - 8 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Congregational Church of Killingworth.
