Edwin V. Ackerman Jr.

ACKERMAN, Edwin V. Jr. Edwin V. Ackerman Jr., 64, of East Hartford, husband of Rosalind (Grove) Ackerman passed from this life on Wednesday (June 1, 2005). He was born in Jersey City, NJ, the son of the late Edwin V. and Catherine (Finnegan) Ackerman. Mr. Ackerman had been a proud U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed by the Pratt & Whitney Division of U.T.C. in East Hartford for the last 37 years. Mr. Ackerman had belonged to multiple organizations throughout the area, and will be remembered as an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Along with his wife, he is survived by his brother, William Ackerman of Norfolk, VA; and by his children, Edwin V. Ackerman III, of Madison, WI, Alicia Ackerman and her companion, Al Harmsen of Vernon, Kimberly Ackerman of Vernon, Catherine Ackerman of Lakeland, FL. He also leaves his grandchildren, Dean Ackerman, and Joshua and Joseph Minor all of Vernon, Hannah Noel Ackerman and Emily Elizabeth Ackerman both of Madison, WI. He was predeceased by his half brother, John Finnegan. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to gather for the funeral service at the Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, on Friday, June 10, at 11 a.m. The committal service will follow with full military honors in the Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. The calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
