Eugene F. Dube



Eugene (Gene) F. Dube, 83, of Hadley, MA peacefully passed on Thursday, December 26th, 2013 with members of his loving family by his side. Born to the late Joseph E. Dube and Dorila (Madore) Dube, he grew up in East Hartford, CT and graduated from East Hartford High. In April of 1953, he met the love of his life and future wife, Joyce A. (Gillespie) from Burnsville, NC. They settled in East Hartford, CT where he worked for ITT Continental Baking Co. from 1954 to 1985. Gene and Joyce were blessed with two children, Ronald E. Dube and Denise A. (Dube) Delsie. They were later overjoyed with five grandchildren, Ronald E. Dube Jr., Christopher J. Dube, Charity M. Delsie, Allison M. Dube, and Jasmine G. Delsie. They retired in 1985 to St. Petersburg, FL and then to Valdese, NC. Gene and Joyce celebrated their Wedding Anniversary of 55 golden happy years just before her passing in 2008. Eugene was a United States Navy Veteran, a member of the Windsor Locks Sea Dragons, Elks, American Legion, St. John's Lodge #2 of Masons of Middletown CT and Lovelady Lodge 0670 Valdese, NC, Oasis Shriners, Eastern Star, and past president of Morgan Trace HOA in Valdese, NC. In 2013, Eugene moved to Hadley, MA. He is survived by his sister Theresa (Dube) Mathiau of East Hartford, CT. Memorial services will be held both in East Hartford, CT and Valdese, NC. Visitation will be held on January 12th, 2014 from 12pm-2pm, followed by a memorial service at 2pm at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave, East Hartford, CT. A memorial service will also be held at 2pm on January 12th, 2014 at First United Methodist Church of Valdese, 217 Saint Germain Ave. SE, Valdese, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children, Office of Development 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
