F. Wendell Clukey



F. Wendell Clukey, 81, of Granby, beloved husband for over 38 years of Beverly (Maynard) Clukey, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at his home. Born in Washburn, ME to the late Vern and Priscilla (Fields) Clukey, he was a resident of Granby for most of his life and served his country proudly with the US Army during the Korean War. Wendell peddled milk for Kendall Dairy Farm as a young man and began driving school buses for Salters. He drove trucks for Hillside Motor Lines before starting his own trucking company, F.W. Clukey Trucking, Inc. in 1972. He enjoyed powerboating and classic cars, but his true love was his family who will miss him dearly. Besides his wife Beverly of Granby, he is survived by his daughters Norita Sampieri and her husband Sam of Granby, Colette Akers and her husband Paul of Hebron; his stepson John McCaffery and his wife Christine of Westfield, MA; his stepdaughter Debra Riggott and her husband Gary of Walpole, MA; his grandchildren Shelby, Brendan, Steven, Alexis and Kyle; his step-grandchildren Rebecca and Alex; his brothers Richard Clukey and his wife Martha of Dexter, ME and Dwayne Randall and his wife Claudia of Gore, OK; and his sister Janice Crane of Granby; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, February 4 at the Hayes Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St Granby followed by burial with military honors in Granby Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 3 from 5 PM to 8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Granby Ambulance Assoc.
