Reverend Francis W. Carlson, 95, went to be with the Lord, November 17, 2012. He was married to his beloved wife Dorothy (Fowler) Carlson for 50 wonderful years until her death in 1999. Rev. Carlson was born in Windsor Locks, March 7, 1917, son of the late John and Hannah (Peterson) Carlson. After graduating from Boston University School of Theology, he was ordained into the Methodist ministry. A pastor with the United Methodist Church for over 50 years, he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, mentor, counselor, and friend. He served as pastor at St. Andrew's Methodist Church in New Haven, United Methodist Church of Watertown, First United Methodist Church in Hartford, and St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Middletown, NY. After his retirement in 1985, he became the Associate Pastor at United Methodist Church of Waterbury. Rev. Carlson leaves two sons, Douglas S. Carlson and his wife, Kathi, of Hoboken, NJ, and Robert S. Carlson of Freehold, NJ; a daughter, Barbara C. Dunlap and her husband, David, of Richardson, TX; a sister, Dorothy Carlson of Windsor; and four grandchildren, Leah Carlson, Jeffrey Carlson, Stephen Dunlap, and Preston Dunlap.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning 10 a.m. at United Methodist Church of Waterbury, 250 Country Club Rd., Waterbury. The Reverend Robert A. Knebel officiating. Burial will follow in Bantam Cemetery, Bantam.
