BANTA, Franklin N. III Franklin N. Banta III, 86, of Broad Brook, beloved husband of Elizabeth Mae (Labrie) Banta, passed peacefully from this life on Thursday, (October 28, 2004) at his home, with his family at his side, after a long illness. He was born on August 22, 1918, in Westfield, MA, and had lived in the East Windsor community for the last eight years. He was a Corporal in both U.S. Army, and U.S. Air Force during World War II. He worked for Radding Sign Co. of Massachusetts for ten years, and prior to his retirement Mr. Banta had been employed by the Pratt & Whitney division of U.T.C. in East Hartford for 17 years, as a Mark-Up Engineer. He enjoyed reading and appreciated nature. He was also an accomplished clock maker. Along with his wife of ten years, Mr. Banta is survived by his son, Franklin N. Banta IV and his wife Cindy of Manchester; and by his three daughters, Carol Cote of Broad Brook, Mary Ann Trombley and Nancy Bakston both of Enfield. He also leaves his four sisters, Florence Hopkins, Bell Clark, Norma Clark and Rosie Stanaslowski and her husband Ed all of Milford. Mr. Banta is also survived by his eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Frances and by his parents, Franklin and Nellie Banta and by his step-father, Ernest Stone. Mr. Banta's family would like to thank his friend and Home & Community Nurse, Patricia Ripish for all of her caring works. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to gather at the Callahan Funeral Home, 1602 Main St., East Hartford on Tuesday, November 2, from 9-11:30 a.m. for the procession to Faith Lutheran Church, 1120 Silver Lane, East Hartford, where the funeral service will be held at Noon. The committal service with full Military Honors will follow in the Veterans Memorial Field of Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford.
