Giovanni Adorno, 83, of New Britain passed away on Sunday, (July 8, 2012) surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Sortino, Sicily, Italy, a son of the late Luigi and Sofia (Cartelli) Adorno. He was a Machine Operator at Stanley Works for many years. Giovanni was a communicant of St. Ann's Catholic Church and a member of the Generale Ameglio Italian Club. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed dancing and was crowned the Senior Prom King in 2010. He loved gardening and playing cards with his friends at the Generale Ameglio. He always extended a helping hand to the residents and was loved by all at Brittany Farms. His wife Gaetana (Lombardo) Adorno, predeceased him in 1989. He is survived by his loving family, his daughter Sofia Giannone and her husband Egidio of Farmington, his four sons Luigi Adorno and his wife Christina, Angelo Adorno, Sebastiano Adorno and Frank Adorno all of New Britain; one sister Gina Adorno Vinci and one brother Gaetano Adorno both of Priolo, Sicily, Italy, his brother-in-law Joe Lombardo and his wife Elizabeth of Southington; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. His family offers a special thanks to the Brittany Farms angels that loved and took care of him.
Funeral services will be Wednesday July 11, 2012 at 9 a.m. from the New Britain Memorial-Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Avenue, New Britain, followed by his Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Garden Mausoleum.
