REED, Glenda Lorraine Copes

Glenda Lorraine Copes Reed, 69, beloved wife of William Reed passed away peacefully on Friday, (June 14, 2013). She was born and raised in Hartford and moved to Durham, NC in 2010. Glenda was a proud product of the Hartford Public School system and earned degrees from Hartford College for Women, Smith College and UCONN. She worked for Aetna, beginning her career in Aetna Foundation and ending with her retirement in 1999 as Head of Corporate Real Estate. She was a past president of the Hartford Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Known as Sister Reed by her church family, she was a committed Christian and devoted member of The First Cathedral in Bloomfield. Along with her husband William of 39 years, she is survived by her daughter, Jeanine Holland and her husband Shawn and their children whom she adored, Vaughan and Sydney Holland, son Darrin Reed, special nephew, Michael Leslie; eight brothers, nine sisters and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, from 11:30 - 1 p.m., with a funeral service to follow beginning at 1 p.m., at The First Cathedral, 1151 Blue Hills Ave., Bloomfield, CT. Carmon Windsor Funeral Home has care of the arrangements.
