Harry E. Huntington, 89, of Manchester, passed away Sunday, (September 22, 2013) at Manchester Memorial Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 69 years to Nina (Miller) Huntington. Born in Hartford, he was the son of Floyd and Gladys (Brusie) Huntington. Harry was a graduate of East Hartford High School. He served in the US Navy from 1942-1945 and was based in the Philippines. He received two Distinguished Flying Cross Air Medals, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with Star, World War II Victory Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Medal with Bronze Star. Harry retired as a production manager for the Coca Cola Company in East Hartford. He was very active in his church, Wesley Memorial (Methodist) Church in East Hartford. He owned and raced horses and was a member of the US Trotting Assn., Maine Harness Horseman Assn. and the Maine Owners and Breeders Assn. Besides his wife, he leaves behind his son, Paul G. Huntington, a brother, Robert Huntington, a sister-in-law, Elsie Huntington, two grandchildren, Dana Marie Gray and Paul Huntington II, two great-grandchildren, Daryl and Alex Gray, a cousin, Barbara and her husband Robert Tewksbury and several nieces and nephews. He will also be dearly missed by his close friends and neighbors, Cliff and Christine, Lauren and Joe, and Chris and Sally. He was predeceased by a son, Harold M. Huntington, a brother, Floyd Huntington, and a sister-in-law Mary Jane Huntington.
Funeral services will be Friday, September 27, at 11 a.m. at the Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill. There will be a calling hour, 10-11 a.m., just prior to the service. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park.&zwsp;
