Howard F. BRADLEY(1918 - 2014)

Howard F. Bradley, 95, of Forestville, beloved husband of the late Marion (Kirkby) Bradley, peacefully passed away Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Sheriden Woods Health Care Center in Bristol. Howard was born on Dec. 20, 1918, at Hartford Hospital, son of the late Howard L. and Edna (Dunning) Bradley. He earned a degree in accounting from Morse Business College in Waterbury and served in the Army Air Corps during WWII in the Pacific. Upon his medical discharge, he and Marion married on Nov. 24, 1944. They made their home in Forestville for the next 70 years, wintering in Riviera Beach, FL and vacationing at the Jersey shore, the site of his early childhood years. Always the entrepreneur, he owned and operated Laundromats in Terryville and Forestville and multiple boardwalk businesses in Ocean Grove, N.J. for 34 years. Howard was a creative woodworker and tinkerer, repairing anything mechanical. He volunteered his time at the Forestville Boys Club and ushered for the Ocean Grove Methodist Camp Meeting Ground Association. He was a lifelong member of Asbury Methodist Church in Forestville. He and his wife were active members in the Forestville Green Hills School Parent Teachers Association. Forever the patient, protective and loving father, he will be greatly missed by his daughters and their spouses; Marcia and Michael Kelly of Harwinton, Karen and Lee Cranford, Gail and Jim McDonald of Forestville, Beth and Jim Soulier of Fort Meyers, FL. He leaves his loving nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, as well as his sister, Norma Guhl, of Forestville; and sister-in-law, Edna Kirkby, of Bristol. The family would like to thank the staff at Sheriden Woods Health Care Center for their excellent care and compassion over the past five years. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 25, 2014 at Asbury United Methodist Church in Forestville. Burial will follow at West Cemetery, Bristol. There will be no calling hours.
