BACHMAN, James R.

James R. Bachman, 88, of Bristol, passed away Sunday morning, (January 27, 2013) at his home. He was the husband of the late Margaret (Pittman) Bachman and the longtime companion of Judy Michaud with whom he resided. Jim was born in Hartford on June 17, 1924 a son of the late Julius and Georgianna (Perry) Bachman and was a member of St. Matthew Church, Forestville. He was a veteran of World War II, serving proudly in the US Navy, stationed in the South Pacific and was discharged as a motor mechanic 2nd class. Jim was the former owner of the Maple End Shop, had worked at Ingraham Clock, Peck Spring and for 15 years was the manager of St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Jim was an avid woodworker, clockmaker and craftsman having made furniture for everybody and anybody. He was a mentor at O'Connell School, had played Santa Claus and was a devout Loony Tunes fan. Besides his companion and best friend, Judy Michaud, he leaves his sons, Lynn J. Bachman and his wife Judy of North Easton, MA, Timothy P. Bachman and his wife Sandra and Christopher P. Bachman and his wife Debra, all of Bristol; daughter Lisa Bachman-Boucher and her husband Rene of Branford; grandchildren, Mallory, Kadie, Brett, and Isabella; and great-grandchildren Dorian and Grant; Judy's sons, Paul, Bobby and Kevin Michaud and Kevin's wife Lisa, and their children. Jim also leaves his dog, Marley. He was predeceased by his beloved grandson, Mitchell Bachman; and by his sister Ethel Swenton and brothers Robert, Jack, and Lawrence "Peach" Bachman.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013 at 11 a.m. from the O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Forestville/Bristol and will proceed to St. Matthew Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday between 5 and 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
