John A. DeFurio, 89, of Wethersfield, passed away on Thursday (March 7, 2013). Born in Hartford on December 9, 1923, he was the son of the late Henry and Antoinette (Marinacchio) DeFurio and had lived in the area all his life. John was a proud World War II U.S. Navy veteran serving on the USS Conner. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 30 years as a letter carrier. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers #86 and the National Active and Retired Federal Employees #154. He is survived by his brother, William DeFurio and his wife Carolyn of Rocky Hill; his sister, Elizabeth Kobulnicky of Sugarland, TX; his godson, Robert C. DeFurio and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by five brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will begin on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Hwy., Wethersfield. Burial with military honors at Mt.
