GRABOWSKI, John A. "Jack"
John A. "Jack" Grabowski, 76, of New Britain, Ct., April 16, 1937 - October 8, 2013, son of Joseph and Margarite (Peete) Grabowski. Jack was employed by Parsons Buick of Plainville before retiring. He Faithfully and Honorably served his country in the army during the Korean war. Jack was an Inner Guard and Chaplain and volunteered his time on numerous occasions with the Southington Elks club, active with the Senior Center of Plainville and in the Poetry Guild. Jack had many poems published in the Calendar House Poetry Chapbooks. He also exhibited pen & ink drawings in juried shows in Southbury, CT. Jack was an avid book reader and a loyal fan of Stephen King, he enjoyed the outdoors, vacationing in Vermont, bird watching and spending time with his family, Jacks favorite bird was the Loon. Jack is survived by his four children, Dawn M. Kroft and her husband Barry of Allentown PA, Dean E. Grabowski of Cromwell CT, Cheryl L. Gagnon of Cromwell CT and Tracy A. Lunn and her husband David of Southington CT, nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and his best friend and loyal companion his dog Samson, his sister Mary Wojtusik, of New Britain. Jack was predeceased by two brothers and four sisters. The Grabowski family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Grove Hill Oncology for all of their help and support throughout our father's illness.
Funeral rites for Jack will be held Tuesday October 15, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. with the procession departing at 10 a.m. from the Paul A. Shaker/Farmingdale Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Avenue, New Britain, Ct., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Jerome Church, 1010 Slater Road, New Britain, CT. Burial with full military honors will be in St. Mary Cemetery, 1141 Stanley Street, New Britain, Ct. The American Flag will be presented to Jack's daughter, Dawn. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A. Shaker/Farmingdale Funeral Home, Monday from 4-7 p.m. Directions to funeral home: I-84 East or West - Exit 37 (Fienemann Road) right off exit - one mile down on right.
