John J. Kosky

John J. Kosky, 76, of Rocky Hill, beloved husband of Lynda (Berner) Kosky, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2014 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Born in Hartford, the son of the late Edward and Frances (Stone) Kosky, he grew up and lived in Manchester and Vernon before moving to Rocky Hill. He served in the Army National Guard from 1954 to 1958 followed by three years of active duty in the U. S. Army until 1961. He was a Master Mason and a member of the Rocky Hill Elks. Perhaps John's greatest accomplishment was the founding of Skycraft Manufacturing in 1984. Skycraft specialized in manufacturing jet engine parts. It was originally located in Stafford Springs, and now in Vernon. John often remarked how lucky he was to have such loyal and dedicated employees, whom he thought of as family. He retired from his business in January 2013. In addition to his wife, John is survived by three devoted daughters and their husbands, Tracy and Kevin Costello, Jennifer and William Harris, and Suzanne and Kevin Charpentier; nine cherished grandchildren, Nicole Stutz, Ian, Emily, Megan, and Jacob Noble, and Sarah, Nathan and Isabelle Charpentier; a step son, Brian Cardello; his sister, Donna Waite and her husband Norman; his former wife and mother of his children, Elizabeth Perron, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Tierney. John's family wishes to extend a "thank you" to the entire hospice staff at Middlesex Hospital for their compassionate care. His family will receive friends for calling hours on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon, followed by a funeral service at the funeral home beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of his family. John was an avid landscaper and master gardener, but would appreciate instead of flowers that you make a donation to the Middlesex Hospital, Hospice and Palliative Care Unit, 28 Crescent Street, Middletown, CT 06457.
