John P. Eveleth Sr.

John P. Eveleth, Sr., 81, of New Britain, widower of Shirley (Hildreth) Eveleth, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at his home. Born in Springfield, MA, John has been a New Britain resident since 1965. He received a Bachelors Degree from Amherst College and a Master in Business Administration from Northeastern. He was employed at the former New Britain National Bank for 28 years and later First City Bank in New Britain for 15 years until his retirement in 2006. He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in New Britain; was a 46 year member of Shuttle Meadow Country Club; was on the Board of Directors at CCARC in New Britain; was Chairman of the CHFA; was a member of the Rotary Club in New Britain and enjoyed coaching in Fagan League Baseball. Surviving are three sons, John "Chip" Eveleth, Jr. and his wife Melanie Carr-Eveleth of New Britain; Andrew Eveleth also of New Britain; and Mark Eveleth of Avon; a brother, Jeffrey Eveleth and his wife Elizabeth of Williamstown, NY; a niece, Cathy Eveleth of Oswego, NY and a nephew, Jeffrey Eveleth of Williamstown; a brother- in-law, Roger Hildreth and his wife Maureen of Richmond, Virginia and their children Joshua of Washington D.C. and Katherine of Virginia. Funeral services are Saturday 10 AM at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 147 West Main Street, New Britain, CT 06051. Burial will follow in Maple Cemetery, Berlin. There are no calling hours.
