Joseph A. Amara, Sr., 85, of Newington, husband of Palma (Salustro) Amara for 62 years, died Friday, (December 21, 2001). Born in Middletown he was the son of the late Louis & Josephine (Cipriano) Amara. During World War II
Joseph served in the CT. National Guard. He was employed as a machinist for the Allen MFG Co. now the Danaher Corp. prior to his retirement in 1980. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Louis Amara of Colchester and Joseph and Leslie Amara, Jr. of Chatam, MA; two daughters and a son-in-law, Josephine Bouchard of Newington and Camille and Dr. Edward Mayer of Sunrise, FL; two brothers, Louis Amara of Rocky Hill and Harry Amara of Cromwell; two sisters Rose Buckie of Rocky Hill and Mary Tolisano of Hartford; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held TODAY in The Church of St. Andrew The Apostle, 331 Orchard Street, Rocky Hill at 10:30 a.m. There are no calling hours. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
