Joseph Ardizzone

ARDIZZONE, Joseph Joseph Ardizzone, of Bloomfield died Friday (July 25, 2008). Joe was born in New Haven, February 8, 1919, to the late Antonio and Clementina (Abadessa) Ardizzone. He received a BS degree in physical therapy from the Medical College of Virginia (Virginia Commonwealth University). Following graduation, Joe relocated to Alabama and was employed by the Veterans Administration as a physical therapist. While in Alabama, he met his wife June and they then moved to Bethesda, MD, where Joe was appointed Director of Physical Therapy for the VA Hospital in Washington, DC. Following his retirement from the VA, he was then appointed Director of Physical Therapy at the George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC and Assistant Professor of Physical Medicine at George Washington Medical School. In 1983, Joe moved to North Haven and during his retirement, he was an avid photographer and collector of gemstones. He then moved to the Seabury Retirement Community in 2004. Joe leaves his loving wife of 65 years, June D. Ardizzone, his sister Mary Finoia of Yonkers, NY and his nieces June Comer-Chagnon and her husband Robert of Enfield and Joyce Comer of Wethersfield. He was predeceased by his sister Amelia Ardizzone Comer. Friends may call at the Brooklawn Funeral Home, 511 Brook Street, Rocky Hill, CT, Sunday, July 27 from 2-4 p.m. with a memorial service at 4 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
