LANTIERI, Joseph Jr.

Joseph Lantieri, Jr., 74, of Ellington, passed away on Wednesday (May 15, 2013) at Rockville General Hospital. Born on May 5, 1939 in Hartford, he was the son of the late Joseph and Sebastiana (Gallo) Lantieri. Joe proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army. He earned his MBA from Western New England College and prior to his retirement, he worked as an accountant for Advo Systems. Joe was a member of the Rockville Elks Lodge #1359, the Knights of Columbus Council 4122 in Vernon and the Italian Club in East Hartford. He also volunteered his time at The Cornerstone Shelter in Rockville and was a former Eucharistic Minister at St. Joseph Church in Rockville. Joe is survived by his son, Paul Lantieri and his wife Diana of Glastonbury; his two adored grandchildren, Brendan and Julia Lantieri and his former wife, Betty Lantieri of Tolland. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Josephine Lantieri.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday (May 21) at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 33 West St., Rockville. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
