Joseph S. Cangemi(1916 - 2014)

Joseph S. Cangemi, 98, of East Hartford passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014. Born in the Thompsonville section of Enfield, CT April 14, 1916, Joseph was the son of the late Guiseppi and Michilina (Talona) Cangemi. He grew up in Hartford and was a graduate of Hartford Public High School Class of 1934. A World War II Veteran, Joseph served with the 188th Combat Engineers under General George Patton's 3rd Army. He was a life member of the Veteran's of Foreign War, Post 9929 in West Hartford, CT. Joseph retired in 1981 from Rowland Productions in Berlin, CT and moved to Tampa, FL in 1982 and returned to Windsor, CT in 1998. He is survived by his son, Michael of Windsor Locks; four grandchildren, Gina Marie Garfield of Ellington, Nicolas Cangemi of Suffield, Toni Marie Cangemi of Falls River, MA and Christopher Cangemi of East Windsor and a great granddaughter, Nicole Garfield of Ellington. Joseph was predeceased by a sister, Carmella Demma and two brothers, Thomas and Charles Cangemi. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for Alzheimer's care may be sent to Scott Emmons c/o Riverside Health Care Center, 745 Main St., East Hartford, CT 06108. There are no calling hours.
