WILLIAMS, Kathleen Nina
Kathleen Nina (Kearney) Williams, 78, of Bloomfield, beloved wife of Russell P. Williams, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday (November 20, 2012) surrounded by her loving family. Born in Hartford to the late Michael and Catherine (Moloney) Kearney, she has been a Bloomfield resident all of her life. Kathleen cherished the 58 years of marriage to her high school sweetheart Russell. She enjoyed her 23 years of service at the Bloomfield Middle School, retiring in 1994. She also was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Bloomfield, past president of the Bloomfield Junior Women's Club, member of the Nantucket Anglers Club and held the designation of Navigator with the US Power Squadron. Kathleen was an avid UCONN Men's and Women's basketball fan and she enjoyed boating, fishing, and spending her summers in Nantucket and Ireland. She also loved to travel and made many trips abroad. Kathleen leaves behind a legacy of devotion to her family, her heartfelt passion. Besides her husband Russell, she is survived by her son Russell Michael Williams and his wife Dayle of Bloomfield; her daughters, Kathleen Reed and her husband Robert of West Suffield, Sheri Connelly and her husband Kevin of Bloomfield, and Kellie Bassell and her husband Edward of Wellington, FL; her grandchildren Robert, Brendan, and Declan Reed, Meagan, Brett, Russell and Jennifer Williams, John and Kathleen Connelly, and Katherine Bassell. She also leaves her sister Joan Mayock and husband John of East Granby. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her sister Marie Kearney Bull.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, November 26 at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Wintonbury Ave Bloomfield followed by burial in Mountain View Cemetery, Bloomfield. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 25 from 3-6 p.m. at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave, Windsor. The Williams family would like to express their sincerest gratitude for the compassion and care shown to Kathleen by the entire staff at the UCONN Neag Cancer Center and Vitas Hospice Care. Their support will always be remembered.
