Kostas Agapoglou

AGAPOGLOU, Kostas Kostas Agapoglou of Glastonbury, passed away on Thursday, (November 29, 2007) at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford. He was 60 years old. Born in Athens, Greece on May 3, 1947, Kostas came to the United States in 1976 and became a talented jeweler, watchmaker and goldsmith. He learned the trade by working as a jeweler in Hartford and later opened up his own store. He was the current owner of Kostas Jewelers in Vernon along with his wife. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary (Diakonikolas) Agapoglou; two sons, Peter and Jerry, both of Glastonbury; two brothers, George and Takis of Greece; his father-in-law, Kiriazis Diakonikolas; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lambros and Helen Pappas and Nick and Janice Diakonikolas; and his nieces and nephews, Frank Pappas, Toula and Jerry Pappas, John and Lisa DeFrancesco, Jerry Diakonikolas; and many beloved cousins and friends. He was very well known in the Greek community and had many friends at the Hellenic Club in Hartford. He was kind hearted and had a terrific sense of humor. He will truly be missed. The family will receive relatives and friends from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, December 2, at the Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Turnpike in Wethersfield. There will be a Trisayion Service Sunday, 2 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral will be held on Monday, December 3, at 1 p.m. at Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 433 Fairfield Ave., Hartford with The Rev. James Bogiatzis officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
