Leona Beaupre(1922 - 2014)



Leona (Conrad) Beaupre, 91, of East Windsor, loving wife of 54 years to the late, Clifford A. Beaupre, passed away peacefully Thursday May 8, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital. Born June 6, 1922, in Perkinsville, NY, she was the youngest daughter of Julia (Gessner) Conrad Freeman and Jacob Conrad. Proud of her high school diploma at a time when few graduated, Leona was an intelligent woman with a life-long passion for studying American history and reading biographies. She will be remembered for her love of reading. Leona worked over 20 years for Hi-G of Windsor Locks and Hartford. She is survived by her children, Julie A. Belmont and her husband Richard of Glastonbury; Cynthia L. Beaupre of Lady's Island, SC; Anita B. Kersten and husband Robert of Granby; and Gwendolyn B. Lareau and her husband Richard of Manchester, NJ. Leona is also survived by her grandchildren Ryan C. Beaupre, Nichole M. Lareau, Justin T. Lareau and Ashlyn D. Kersten. Leona was predeceased by her sisters Anita McMahon and Mary George, and brothers Anthony, Gerald and Lawrence Conrad. Leona lived in East Windsor for 50 years and was a communicant of St. Philip Church. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Monday May 12 from 5 to 7 pm at the Bassinger & Dowd Funeral home, 37 Gardner Street, East Windsor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday May 13 at 10 am at St. Philip Church, 150 South Main St (Rt. 5) in East Windsor. Burial will follow in St. Catherine Cemetery, Broad Brook.
