Lucien A. Nadeau

Lucien A. Nadeau, 87, of West Hartford, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Norma (Pelletier) Nadeau for 45 years. Born in Lewiston, ME, he was the oldest of six children of the late Angele (Rossignol) and Marc Nadeau. Lucien entered Eymard Seminary in Suffern, New York and studied with The Blessed Sacrament Fathers for 10 years. Lucien was an insurance agent for Assumption Life and Association Canado-Americaine. He served in the U.S. Army as First Lieutenant in Artillery on the front lines of the Korean War. He was the owner of Centre Franco-Americain in Hartford's "Frog Hollow" from 1962 to 1976. He was a Real Estate Broker during the 1980's and owner of Nadeau Real Estate in West Hartford. Lucien retired from the Knights of Columbus as an insurance agent after many years of service. He was a chartered member of St. Mark the Evangelist Council 10267, in West Hartford where he served as Past Grand Knight for two terms. He was a 4th Degree member for Bishop McMahon Assembly 105 where he served as former Faithful Navigator and Bursar. He also served as District Deputy for the Knights of Columbus. In addition, he was a member of The Franam Club, French Social Circle, Franco American War Veterans and American Legion of West Hartford. He was devoted to his Catholic faith and to his family. Lucien always had a smile on his face, and took life's obstacles with much courage, faith and strength. Besides his wife Norma, he leaves his two daughters, Therese A. Nadeau of Newington, and Michelle C. Farr and her husband Michael of Suffield; and Pepere's two sunshines of his life his grandchildren, Jonathan and Allison Farr. He also leaves two sisters, Lucille Sevigny of Hartford, Priscille Albert and her husband Arthur of Windsor Locks, a sister-in-law, Yvonne Nadeau of Ellington, his extended Pelletier Family and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his brothers, Rev. Roland Nadeau, M.S., and Roger Albert Nadeau, his sister, Rita Ferrante and her husband Joseph and his brother-in-law, Roger Sevigny. His funeral service will begin on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 9:00 a.m., at Fisette-Batzner Funeral Home at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark the Evangelist Church, West Hartford. Entombment with military honors will be in Mt. St. Benedict Mausoleum, Bloomfield. Relatives and friends are invited to call TODAY from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newington Memorial.
