ATKINSON, Marjorie Marjorie Atkinson 91, of South Harwich, died Monday, (June 11, 2007) in Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis, MA. She was the wife of the late James A. Atkinson. She was born on December 11, 1915 in Jersey City, N.J. Mrs. Atkinson was raised in Bayonne, N.J. and after marrying she lived in Jersey City until 1951, she then moved to Rocky Hill, moving to South Harwich, MA in 1981. She was a graduate of New Jersey State Normal School in Jersey City, NJ and received her certification in General Elementary Education in 1936. Mrs. Atkinson worked as a bookkeeper for various Banks in New York City. She worked as a substitute teacher in Rocky Hill, and later in the claims processing for Travelers Insurance Company in Hartford, retiring in 1981. She leaves: one son: James P. Atkinson of Quincy, MA; one nephew and wife: Edward J. Maher Jr. and Kathy Maher of Randolph Township, New Jersey. She was the mother of the late Richard E. Atkinson. She was the sister of the late Edward J. Maher. Her visitation will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. in the Nickerson Funeral Home, 87 Crowell Road, Chatham, MA. Her funeral will be held on Friday, June 15th at 10:00 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Redeemer Church, Highland Avenue, Chatham. Visitation will also be held at the G. Keenen O'Brien Funeral Home, 984 Avenue C, Bayonne, N.J. on Saturday, June 15, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. followed by her burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, N.J. Memorial Donations may be made in her memory to a charity of one's choice.
