BERCK, Mary E.
Mary E. (Gibbons) Berck, 88, of Ellington, beloved wife of 59 years to the late Gene Berck, passed away, Monday (December 10, 2012). She was born in Somerville, MA, the daughter of the late William and Mary (Watkins) Gibbons. She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She was a member of the American Legion Women's Auxillary Post 62 of Ellington and a communicant of St. Luke's Church in Ellington. She looked forward to vacations to Cape Cod and Maine with her family and friends. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She took pride in her grandchildren, going to school functions and sporting events to support them. She is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Joanne and Mark North of Columbia, Susan and Roy Cross of Niantic and Mary-Jean and Jeff Parnell of Columbia; her brother and sister-in-law, James and Claire Gibbons of Arlington; her sister and brother-in-law, Helen and John Morrison of Reading, MA; her sister-in-law, Dellie Willette; her grandchildren, Amanda, Caitlin, Eric, Kristine and Patrick; and her great grandson, Colton. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Charles Mainini of Somerville, MA and her sister-in-law, Marcelle Kolle.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at St. Luke's Church, 141 Maple St. Ellington, CT 06029. Burial will follow in Ellington Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Center Church Camp-Asto Wamah "Campership Fund" 42 West Route 87 Columbia, CT 06237 to assist inner-city children enjoy a country camping experience.
