Michael Aglio

Michael Aglio, 87, husband of Marion (Andrews) Aglio of Glastonbury, died Monday, (February 10, 2003) at a local convalescent home. Born in Middletown, he came to Glastonbury at the age of 12 and lived with the Frank Saglio Family and worked on their fruit and vegetable farm in 1927. He was employed for 58 years by Arbor Acres as Vice President, Technical Services when he retired. He was known in the industry as a task master, teacher and advisor. Mike was known throughout the world for breeding and development of the poultry business. He traveled extensively for the Arbor Acres for many years. He was Past Master, 56-year member, Life Member of Daskam Columbia Lodge #25, AF & AM; a Charter Member and 73-year member of John Tom Hill Community Club; a former member of The Shrine; and a 32nd degree Mason. Besides his loving wife Marion of 58 years, he leaves two sons, Michael T. and his wife, Penelope R. Aglio of Glastonbury and Henry R. Aglio of W. Virginia; a grandson, Thomas Michael Aglio at home; and his brother, James J. Aglio of New Britain; several nephews, nieces and cousins. He also leaves many friends made in the poultry business all over the world. Mike was predeceased by two brothers, Russell and Samuel; and a sister, Mary; as well as his parents. Funeral Service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Tpke., Glastonbury. Spring burial will be in Buckingham Cemetery, Glastonbury. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday, 7-8 p.m. Officers and members of Daskam Columbia Lodge will conduct a Masonic Service Wednesday at 8 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Daskam Columbia Memorial Trust Fund, c/o Robert Flint, Secretary, 300 Forest Lane, Glastonbury.
