Michael K. Doucette(1947 - 2014)

Michael K. Doucette, 66, of Bristol CT, passed away suddenly Friday, February 14, 2014 at his home. Mike was born in Bristol, CT, September 24, 1947 to Vernon and Marie (Wrisley) Doucette, predeceased. Mike graduated from Pulaski High School, New Britain, CT 1964 and received his Computer Electronics Degree from Porter and Chester Institute in 1996. Mike is survived by his "Soulmate" Ruth (Michaud) Doucette, married on August 30, 1997. He was employed by Halifax Corp. before retiring in 2012. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and a member of the American Legion. Mike's legacy will continue on in others through the gift of tissue donation. He had a deep love and devotion to his family; Cherished being with his grandkids where he could regularly be seen playing Xbox. He could always be counted on to help his family whenever needed. He always had a positive attitude and enjoyed telling jokes. He took great joy in the outdoors, including boating down the CT river. His passion for food came second only to his "Soulmate". He enjoyed all kinds of food, except lima beans! Known to his friends as "Toys R Us", he had an insatiable appetite for the newest gadgets, technology, or tools on the market. Mike is survived by his sons: Christopher Doucette of Bristol; Craig Doucette and wife Amy of Tolland; Peter Doucette of Ellington; Christopher Carey and wife Gretchen of Burlington, MA; Peter Carey and wife Dawn of Southington. Siblings: Sister, Lois Doucette of New Britain; Brothers, Paul Doucette and wife Dawn of Bristol and James Doucette and wife Donna of Bristol. Grandkids: Shannon, Evan and Cassandra Carey; Alexzander Doucette; Several nephews. Visiting hours will be held 10am - noon, immediately followed by memorial service and military honors, Saturday 2/22/14 at DuPont funeral home, Bristol CT (www.dupontfuneralhome.com).
