ACETO, Peter L.

Peter L. Aceto, 80, of Manchester loving husband of 52 years of Frances (Ostrowski) Aceto passed away unexpectedly Monday, (November 24, 2003). He was born July 4, 1923 in Manchester son of the late Pasquale and Anna (Cacciapaglia) Aceto, attended local schools and had been a lifelong resident of Manchester. Peter served his country for three years during World War II in the European Theater as part of the Anti Aircraft Artillery Battalion in the U.S. Army. He continued his service as a Postal Employee with the United States Post Office in Manchester for 55 years. Peter was a longtime communicant of St. Bridget Church in Manchester. He was an avid duckpin bowler, softball player and had been former town Ping-Pong Champion. Besides his beloved wife, Fran he is survived by a sister, Antoinette LaVallee of Manchester; three brothers, Joseph Aceto of Dayton, OH, John Aceto of Manchester, and Pasquale "Nene" Aceto also of Manchester; several loving nieces, nephews and godchildren. Besides his parents Peter was predeceased by a brother, Paul Aceto and two sisters, Beatrice Ames and Julia LaRiviere. Peter will be greatly missed by all the people he touched on his mail route. He will always be remembered as a loving and gentle man. Funeral services will be Monday, December 1, 2003 at 9 a.m. at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Bridget Church, 80 Main St., Manchester. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. James Cemetery, Manchester. Calling hours will be Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003 from 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St. Bridget School Fund, 74 Main St., Manchester, CT 06040.
