Princess May Allen

ALLEN, Princess May Princess May Allen, born April 8, 1938, to George and Muriel Simpson of St. Ann Jamaica, West Indies; passed away peacefully on Monday (April 10, 2006). Princess attended Waltham Primary School in St. Ann Jamaica then went on to Kingston Technical High School. Princess immigrated to London, England from Jamaica where she met and married Ripley Phillip Allen. After they immigrated to Hartford, Princess earned her Associates Degree in Nursing from the Laurel School of Nursing. She retired from The Hebrew Home and Hospital after 16 years of employment. She was a member of the Calvary Church of God in Christ. She has left to mourn her husband Ripley of 41 years; children Shevon of Jamaica, Andrew and Christopher of London, England, Dawn and Michael of Hartford and Nicola of Windsor. Also ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren; her sisters: Dorothy, Velma, Letna, Cressie, Millicent, Barbara and an only brother Earl. She also leaves a host of aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews and friends. Princess was a warm, compassionate person who was loved by all. She will be dearly missed. Calling hours will be held from 5-7 p.m. on April 21, at the Henry L. Fuqua Funeral Home, 94 Granby Street, Bloomfield. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 22, at the Good News Release Center, 690 Blue Hills Avenue, Hartford with calling hours from 9-9:30 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be at the Mountain View Cemetery in Bloomfield.
