Ouellette, Raymond (Frenchy)
Raymond H. "Frenchy" Ouellette, 92, of Windsor Locks, beloved husband for 63 years of the late Anna (Fitzpatrick) Ouellette (2005), passed peacefully on November 14, 2012 at Hartford Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Frenchy was born in Lowell, MA on Dec. 4, 1919 and was the son of the late Exilia (Normandin) and Paul Ouellette. He moved to the Windsor Locks community at the age of 9 where he resided for the remainder of his life. A man devoted to the safety of the Windsor Locks community spanning 22 years, he began his career with the Windsor Locks Fire Dept. as a Volunteer Fireman in 1965 and retired from the Dept. as Fire Chief and a Fire Marshall in 1987. He was also a foreman for the former Montgomery Co. retiring after 47 years. His professional and civic memberships included: Riverside Council of Knights of Columbus, Capitol Region Fire Marshals Assn., New England Assn. of Fire Chiefs, New England Fire Marshals Assn., CT Fire Marshals Assn., CT State Fire Fighters Irregulars Assn., and the CT Fire Chiefs Assn. Some of his notable accolades included being appointed by Governor Ella Grasso to the State Firecode Standard Committee, and acting as a member of the Bradley Field Training School Study Committee. Frenchy also coached Little League including some of the players who won the 1965 Little League World Championship. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling and golfing. Frenchy is survived by two daughters, Elaine Mancino and her husband Anthony, Jr. of Windsor Locks; and Corinne Burger and her husband Joseph of Broad Brook; nine grandchildren, Lisa Quaglioroli and her husband Donald, Candi Motuzick, Gail Moran and her partner Steve Gallo, Kim Tower and her husband Chris, Alitia Normandin and her finacee Scott Theodore, Karen Bona, Christine Mancino, Teresa Parent and her husband Aaron, and Anthony Mancino, III and his wife Sue; 17 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife Anna, he was predeceased by a sister Irene Ouellette and a brother, Albert Ouellette.
Calling hours will be held Friday Nov. 16 th from 4-8 p.m. at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. Family and friends may gather at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2012 for a procession to St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 52 South Elm St., Windsor Locks, where a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Raymond's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Committal will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
