Robert E. Murray



Robert E. Murray, 81, of New Britain, Ct. died Tuesday December 17, 2013 at home. Bob was born in New Britain, Ct. and was the son of the late Leo and Lucy (Walkama) Murray. He worked as a Gauge Setter for Fafnir Bearing for several years. Bob served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was also a member of the Oaks Club, Spartans Veterans Athletic Club, American Legion, the Elks Lodge #957 and the Northwestern TGM Memorial Post. Bob is survived by his son, Robert J. Murray, his two daughters, Pamela E. Donati and Lori A. Kelly and her husband Richard, all of New Britain, Ct., his brother, Leo Murray of Roslyn, NY, his three grandchildren, Katy, Ian and Jamie, his two great granddaughters, Lilly and Tessa and several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ruth Murray and his brother, James Murray. Funeral rites for Bob will be held Saturday December 21, 2013 at 10 a.m. from the Paul A. Shaker/Farmingdale Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Avenue, New Britain, Ct. Burial with full military honors will be in the Veterans Spousal Section of Fairview Cemetery, 120 Smalley Street, New Britain, Ct. The American Flag will be presented to Bob's daughter, Pamela. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A. Shaker / Farmingdale Funeral Home, Friday from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. The Elks Lodge #957 will hold a ritual Friday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Directions to funeral home: I-84 East or West - Exit 37 (Fienemann Road) right off exit - one mile down on right.
