Robert L. Milliken, 84, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2014 in Stuart, Florida. He was born in Yankton, SD on August 17, 1929. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 - 1955. He became a licensed Psychologist, after receiving his Doctorate of Education from Denver University. He then taught at Purdue University
and University of Kentucky. While in Kentucky, he began a drug addiction rehabilitation program at the Federal Prison in Lexington. He moved to Connecticut with his family, where he developed a similar program at Undercliff Hospital in Meriden. Then, in addition to a private practice in Farmington, he was a School Psychologist for the West Hartford Public School System. Bob spent his later years volunteering as a counselor at the middle schools in Ocala, FL. Survivors include his wife Elaine Milliken of Stuart, Florida; daughter Julie Erasmus & husband James of Simsbury, CT; son Jon Milliken of Denver, CO; son-in-law Joseph Bleicher of West Hartford, CT; and four grandchildren: Abigail & Dylan Erasmus and Alex & Erica Bleicher. He was also survived by the mother of his children, Joyce Milliken. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jayne Bleicher. He will be missed and remembered by many for his sense of humor and beautiful singing voice.
